Jane Lynch on 'Only Murders in the Building' Role

Jane Lynch says she loves playing a victim on "Only Murders in the Building" because it gives her a chance to be the center of attention.

“I'm a Leo rising, so I want to be the focus,” Lynch joked to Variety during a recent interview.

Lynch plays Sazz Pataki, a Broadway star who is murdered in the first episode of the Hulu comedy-drama. In the show's second season, Lynch's character returns as a ghost who helps the three main characters solve the murder of Bunny Folger, the president of their Upper West Side apartment building.

Lynch's Character Development

Lynch said she was drawn to the role of Sazz because she is a complex and flawed character.

“She's a narcissist, she's self-centered, but she's also very vulnerable and insecure,” Lynch said. “I think that's what makes her so interesting to play.”

Lynch also said she enjoys working with the show's cast and crew.

“It's such a great group of people,” Lynch said. “We all get along so well, and we have a lot of fun working together.”

Lynch's Future on 'Only Murders in the Building'

Lynch said she is not sure if she will return for a third season of "Only Murders in the Building."

“That's up to the writers,” Lynch said. “But I would love to come back. I think there's still a lot of story to tell.”
