Heure Eclipse 8 Avril 2024

The 2024 Total Solar Eclipse Over Canada

A Rare and Spectacle Not to be Missed

On April 8, 2024, skywatchers in Canada will be treated to a rare and spectacular celestial event: a total solar eclipse. This will be the first total solar eclipse visible from Canada since 2008, and the first to cross the country from coast to coast since 1979.

When and Where can it be Seen?

The eclipse will begin at 15:42 UTC on April 8, 2024, and will reach totality at 16:20 UTC. The path of totality will cross Canada from west to east, beginning in the Pacific Ocean and ending in the Atlantic Ocean. The eclipse will be visible from all of Canada, as well as parts of the United States, Mexico, and Greenland.

What to Expect

During a total solar eclipse, the moon passes directly between the sun and the earth, completely blocking the sun's light. This creates a breathtaking sight as the sun's corona, or outer atmosphere, becomes visible around the dark disk of the moon.
